News Archive - July/August 2009New Home for Chesterfield FC LEAGUE TWO club Chesterfield FC is to have a new all-seater stadium. The £11.5m design & build contract was awarded GB Building Solutions after funding totalling £2.5m was secured from the Football Foundation and East Midland Development Agency. The 10,338-seat stadium, designed by Ward McHugh Associates, will be constructed on a new, high profile site which will continue the regeneration of Chesterfield, less than one mile from its historic town centre. In addition to the stadium itself, the new building will house banqueting facilities and further bar and concourse facilities for the use by its supporters. The new stadium will form part of a regeneration project on the site of a former glass factory. The full development will include a new Tesco superstore and mixed-use business units. Chesterfield FC will continue to play at its existing ground for the 2009/10 season, and will relocate to the new ground for the start of the 2010/11 season. « |
